In the Philippines, an academic thesis is named by the degree, such as bachelor/undergraduate thesis or masteral thesis. However, in Philippine English , the term doctorate is typically replaced with doctoral (as in the case of "doctoral dissertation"), though in official documentation the former is still used. The terms thesis and dissertation are commonly used interchangeably in everyday language yet it generally understood that a thesis refers to bachelor/undergraduate and master academic work while a dissertation is named for doctorate work.
The genus (a group of closely related species ) Periophthalmus is by far the most diverse and widespread group of mudskipper. There are eighteen different types. Periophthalmus argentilineatus is one of the most widespread and well known species. It can be found in mangrove ecosystems and mudflats of East Africa and Madagascar east through the Sundarbans of Bengal , South East Asia to Northern Australia , southeast China and southern Japan , up to Samoa and Tonga Islands. It grows to a length of about cm and is a carnivorous (meat-eating) opportunist feeder, which means it will eat anything it comes upon. It feeds on small prey such as small crabs and other arthropods . Another species, Periophthalmus barbarus , is the only oxudercine goby that lives in the coastal areas of western Africa (Murdy, 1989).
In Czechoslovakia , the Candidate and Doctor of Sciences ( Czech : Kаndidát věd , Slovak : Kаndidát vied ) degrees were modeled precisely after the Soviet one by Law 60/1953 in 1953. Requirements to attain the degree were thus literally the same as in the USSR. Since all Czechoslovak top academic research institutions were dissolved after the Communist Putsch in 1948, the supreme academic authority was represented by the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences , newly established in 1953. The degree could also be awarded by the Slovak Academy of Sciences and universities.
